President Donald Trump on Wednesday called on Congress to pass the Mission Act, which would allow veterans to choose where they get healthcare, by Memorial Day.

The bill is backed by almost 40 veterans groups and has broad bipartisan support, with the House Veterans Affairs Committee voting to approve it 20-2.

The Acting Secretary of the Department of Veterans' Affairs, Robert Wilkie, asked Congress on Monday to pass the bill before funding for the V.A. Choice program, which is what allows veterans to choose to seek healthcare outside the VA, runs out, which could happen as early as May 31.

Trump previously tweeted he would sign the bill "immediately."
