Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., on Monday said Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh “will receive a vote on the Senate floor” in the near future and called sexual misconduct allegations against Kavanaugh, a “shameful, shameful smear campaign” orchestrated by Democratic senators.

“Judge Kavanaugh will be voted on here on the Senate floor,” McConnell said on the Senate floor. “Up or down. On the Senate floor, this fine nominee to the Supreme Court will receive a vote in this Senate, in the near future.”

McConnell blasted Democrats following new sexual misconduct allegations against Kavanaugh published Sunday by The New Yorker.

“It’s despicable,” said McConnell.

“Even the New York Times refused to run a story about the second accuser.”

Deborah Ramirez told the New Yorker that Kavanaugh exposed himself to her and thrust his penis in her face during a party when they were both students at Yale University. Her claim comes days before Kavanaugh and his first accuser, Christina Blasey Ford, are set to testify to the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Ford said Kavanaugh pinned her to a bed and groped her at a party when they were teenagers in the early 1980s. She went public with her story two weeks ago.
