Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell praised President Donald Trump's accomplishments on Thursday while the president criticized him on Twitter, Politico reported.

Trump accused McConnell of failing to follow through on the Republican plan to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act in a tweet Thursday morning.

At that same time, at a breakfast hosted by the Kentucky Farm Bureau, McConnell said that although he is "a little concerned by some of the trade rhetoric not only by the president, who succeeded, but by the people who were running against him," he thinks that "we still have a selling job to point out to most Americans that trade is a winner for America.

"The assumption that every free-trade agreement is a loser for America is largely untrue. But we've got a selling job to do and of course in agriculture, there's nothing more important than trade."

Despite this lone comment, most of what McConnell said of Trump portrayed him as in line with congressional Republicans. The majority leader also praised many of Trump's policies and accomplishments, most notably the appointment of Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court, and of his widespread deregulation efforts.

"President Donald J. Trump and Sen. Mitch McConnell remain united on many shared priorities, including middle class tax relief, strengthening the military, constructing a southern border wall, and other important issues," White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement this morning, according to The Hill.
