Mitt Romney said it is too early to say whether he would vote to re-elect President Donald Trump in 2020.

"It's too early to say who I will support," said the former GOP presidential candidate, who is now running for a Senate seat from Utah.

"Yes, I did say I think he'll get re-elected. That's not an endorsement. I mean I also think that Gavin Newsom will get elected in California. That's not something I want to see, that's just something that's probably going to happen.

"I'm not willing to say who I'm going to support at this stage. That's a little early for that, but the time will come."

Last month, he had predicted Trump would be re-elected.

"I think that not just because of the strong economy and the fact that people are going to see increasingly rising wages," Romney said, "but I think it's also true because I think our Democrat friends are likely to nominate someone who is really out of the mainstream of American thought…"
