House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said Monday that Republicans must take full responsibility of their plan to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act.
"The ball is in their court," Pelosi said in a Democratic conference call, according to ABC’s Rick Klein. "You break it, you own it."
Pelosi also called the GOP’s choice to repeal and delay Obamacare until they create a replacement an "act of cowardice."
"The repeal and delay is an act of cowardice on the part of the Republicans," Pelosi said, according to The Hill. "This repeal and delay, it doesn't even have alliteration. It has nothing."
Incoming Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., vowed that Democrats wouldn't "be part of this idea of repeal and put nothing in its place," and warned reporters that Republicans "saying they'll do it sometime down the road will cause huge calamity from one end of America to the other," according to Politico.
Republicans have repeatedly put repealing and replacing Obamacare among their highest priorities for the next Congress. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said it would be "the first item up in the new year," according to Politico, and that he expects to "get Democratic cooperation."
