Amid the U.S. response to the global coronavirus pandemic, President Donald Trump has declared Sunday a National Day of Prayer, a designation normally reserved for May 7.

Trump made the announcement via Twitter on Friday:

"It is my great honor to declare Sunday, March 15th as a National Day of Prayer. We are a Country that, throughout our history, has looked to God for protection and strength in times like these...."

Trump continued in an ensuing tweet:

"....No matter where you may be, I encourage you to turn towards prayer in an act of faith. Together, we will easily PREVAIL!"

Trump is holding White House meetings on pandemic updates and plans to deliver a "full report" later Saturday.
