The Senate Intelligence Community has rejected Gen. Michael Flynn's "wildly preliminary" request for immunity, NBC News reported.
The lawyer for President Donald Trump's former national security adviser was told by the Senate committee that immunity was "not on the table" right now, NBC News reported.
Flynn's attorney, Robert Kelner, released a statement Thursday night confirming a Wall Street Journal story that Flynn would testify in exchange for immunity from prosecution.
"No reasonable person … would submit to questioning in such a highly politicized witch hunt environment," Kelner said in a statement he released on Twitter.
Flynn was fired just weeks into President Donald Trump's presidency for not disclosing enough about his conversations with a Russian ambassador to Vice President Mike Pence.
Flynn, according to Kelner, has a "story to tell" about possible connections between Trump's campaign and the Russians.
