David Plouffe, former senior adviser to President Barack Obama, admitted he was wrong in predicting Democrat Hillary Clinton would cruise into the White House, The Daily Caller reported.
Plouffe was instrumental in Obama's two victories, but said Tuesday night he has "never been as wrong" as when he predicted an easy Clinton victory in September.
Plouffe told The Washington Post two months ago: "I can get Donald Trump to within two or three in Pennsylvania, but I can't get him to a win number. The same is true in Virginia and Colorado.
"I know everybody goes crazy about the latest Cheetos poll, but I feel very confident about both New Hampshire and Florida," he said. "So that puts [Clinton] over 300 [in the electoral college]. Trump has to pull off a miracle in the electoral college."
Trump's chances of winning far outpaced Clinton's late Tuesday night, as supporters could be seen crying at her headquarters in New York.
