Newt Gingrich accused President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton of a conspiracy to "suppress the truth about the threats we face."
"They're both misleading us about Orlando," the former speaker of the House told "Fox & Friends." "And deep down, they know it."
Gingrich, appearing on "Fox & Friends" Monday, said the U.S. needs to take steps against Muslims in this country, much the same way FDR did against Nazi sympathizers in 1938 and '39.
"When I watched what the president said yesterday, it made me want to cry. This is such deliberate falsehood," Gingrich told the program. "With all of that factual data, the President of the United States could not bring himself to tell the truth to the American people.
"The question you have to ask is, how many Americans have to die before Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton decide they can tell the truth about the threat to the United States from Islamic supremacists?"
Gingrich said it is necessary to take action against American citizens when those citizens have pledged to be an enemy within.
"We're going to ultimately declare war on Islamic supremacists and we're going to say, 'If you pledge allegiance to ISIS, you are a traitor and you have lost your citizenship,' and we're going to take a much tougher position," Gingrich told the show.
And that tougher position, Gingrich says, won't come from this administration, and it wouldn't come from a Clinton one either.
"I've had very senior people in the Obama administration tell me they have to be really, really nice throughout the Muslim brotherhood … because otherwise they won't get any corporation out of the Muslim community," Gingrich said. "What we're now learning is the tone is so bad when people see somebody who hates America, as they did in San Bernardino where people actually thought they saw bombs, but they were afraid to call it in. Because people might think they were Islamaphobic. This is a core argument."
