Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says negative coverage of Steve Bannon, the Breitbart News chair named Donald Trump's top adviser, is a mission of "personal destruction" launched by jealous news organizations.
"Goodness, the liberal lamestream lapdog media just can't get anything right in its coverage of the Trump Train," Palin wrote Tuesday on her Facebook page.
"A latest press target is a man who's been part of a team that just made history. Trump campaign CEO, Steve Bannon, is particularly bright on the Leftist media's radar.
"Because they cannot handle the fact he's also from their arena but has been enormously more influential than his peers. 'How dare one of our own succeed outside our herd,' is no doubt a favorite whine in DC today."
Palin, who was Sen. John McCain's vice-presidential running mate in 2008, said Bannon understood the media coverage in that race defined 'injustice' and 'double standard.'''
"I'll be forever grateful, as will other Commonsense Conservatives who will not stand for the press's politics of personal destruction," she wrote.
Palin, who supported Trump in his bid for the presidency, added: "Obviously we look forward to a fundamental restoration of American exceptionalism under a President beholden to no one but we the people.
She also said Americans should "be thankful for the coming monumental change in journalism. Ready to stop rewarding the media's engagement in politics of personal destruction? Demand and declare it changes now."
In the past week, Bannon has been described in some reports as a white nationalist and champion of the alt-right who is unfit to be a top White House adviser and confidante.
