Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin signaled she may be finished with politics by shutting down her political action committee at the end of 2016.
As noted by Michael Beckel of the Center for Public Integrity, Palin's SarahPAC closed up shop as of Dec. 31. Palin, who served as Alaska's governor from 2006-2009, was Arizona Sen. John McCain's running mate in his failed 2008 presidential bid.

According to The Washington Post, the financial figures for SarahPAC spun a similar tale in 2010. Of the $5.6 million it raised during that midterm election cycle, the PAC spent 12 percent, or $509,000, on Republican candidates and conservative committees.
Palin stayed relevant during the 2016 presidential campaign by being a defender of now President Donald Trump as he faced a firestorm of criticism from his critics in the media and both major political parties.
Two days before Trump was sworn into the office, she wrote in a column that President Barack Obama's final days were "the end of an error."
