A high-profile, African-American pastor said President Donald Trump is more "pro-black" than any other president in recent history.
Pastor Darrell Scott attended a White House event with Trump on Wednesday and, according to NBC, heaped praise on the commander-in-chief.
"This president actually wants to prove something to our community, our faith-based community, and our ethnic community," Scott said. "The last president [Barack Obama] didn’t feel like he had to. He got a pass.
"This is probably going to be ... the most pro-black president I've seen in my lifetime."
Scott co-founded the National Diversity Coalition for Trump in 2016 with former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen, who is now embroiled in legal issues stemming from payments he made to women who claimed to have had affairs with Trump before the 2016 presidential campaign.
The Washington Times reported Scott as saying that Trump is also helping in the fight for prison reform, a hot topic his administration is tackling.
"This president, this administration is probably going to be more proactive regarding urban revitalization and prison reform than any president in my lifetime," Scott said.
