A federal judge will allow former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort to travel from his Alexandria, Virginia home to visit family on Long Island for Christmas despite the home confinement he's been living under since October.

According to Bloomberg, Manafort's legal team formally asked a judge if Manafort could head to Bridgehampton, New York to spend Christmas with his extended family. Manafort has been forced to wear a GPS monitor since he was indicted by special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia probe team in late October on a 12-count indictment stemming from his overseas business dealings.

The motion was granted, clearing the path for Manafort and his immediate family to continue its tradition of spending Christmas in the Hamptons.

"The order will require that defendant remain at his Bridgehampton home at all other times, and he will continue to be subject to GPS monitoring," U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson wrote, Bloomberg reported.

Manafort is required to provide "a detailed and complete itinerary" of his schedule that includes flights and when and where he will be once on the ground.

It was reported last week that Manafort has put up enough money to satisfy a $10 million bond to secure his release from home confinement. Once paperwork is completed, Manafort will be allowed to live in his Florida home and will have more freedom of movement, although that will be restricted to two Florida counties. Manafort will still be required to wear a GPS monitor.

Mueller's team is investigating whether President Donald Trump's campaign colluded with Russia to win the election.
