Sen. David Perdue, R-Ga., said Sunday that a GOP victory in the Jan. 5 runoff elections for two Senate seats will be “last line of defense” against a Democratic agenda.
In an interview on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures,” Perdue said “Democrats want total control” of the Senate for their political ends.
GOP Sens. Perdue and Kelly Loeffler are facing Democratic challengers Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, respectively, in the runoffs. The current breakdown in the Senate is 50 Republican senators and 48 Democratic members.
“These two seats … are the last line of defense against this liberal socialist agenda that the Democrats will perpetrate.... [Democrats] want total control,” he said.
According to Perdue, Sen. Charles]Schumer, D-N.Y., if he becomes Majority Leader, "will change the rules in the Senate so they can do anything they want with 50 votes plus the vice president's vote’s a tie breaker."
“They will pack the [Supreme] Court and add four new Democrat seats by adding two new states and will eventually want to do away with the Electoral College," he charged.
He charged Democrats will also push through “the Green New Deal, they want to defund the police, open borders, they want to have sanctuary cities, they want to cut the military spending…and then takeaway our private health insurance.”
Perdue also decried efforts of Democrats from out-of-state to campaign for his opponent.
“We have proven to the Democrats that Georgia is not a blue state,” he said. “We beat their agenda by four points in total and so they know, to win in this runoff, they've got to do something illegal and we're not going to let it happen,” he alleged.
“What they're encouraging people to do is to use artificial addresses or move in temporarily,” he alleged. “Our law says they have to be here permanently but it just shows they're willing to do anything, lie, steal, cheat, to win this election because it goes back to what they want.”
