The painting of Pete Buttigieg as a "moderate" on abortion was rejected by the Republican National Committee after Friday night's debate in Manchester, New Hampshire.
"Pete Buttigieg is falsely referred to as a moderate sometimes; as [Friday] night's debate showed, that's a total myth," an RNC research email argued, pointing to Buttigieg's past comments on abortion.
- On refusing limits on late-term abortion and infanticide:
- "It shouldn't be up to a government official to draw the line, and it should be up to the woman who's confronted with the choice," Buttigieg told ABC's "The View."
- It is solely a woman's right to choice:
- "The dialogue has got so caught up on where you draw the line, that we've gotten away from the fundamental question of who gets to draw the line, and I trust women to draw the line when it's their life," Buttigieg told Fox News host Chris Wallace during a town hall debate.
- On supporting the Democratic Party position that excludes pro-life voters:
- "I support the position of my party that this type of medical care needs to be available to everyone," Buttigieg told a pro-life voter at a Fox News town hall.
- Buttigieg praised a 7-year-old girl for asking about abortion, according to a mediaite video from a December town hall in New Hampshire.
- "Well, thanks for speaking up about this, and thanks for being here, and I wish I was as tuned in to big issues when I was 7 as you seem to be," Buttigieg said.
The RNC email also provided multiple clips from Buttigieg on other issues where he proved to be more left than moderate, including climate change, healthcare, immigration, foreign policy, and political extremism.
