Poll: Trump Within 2 Points of Clinton in NH

Hillary Clinton has a 2-point lead over Donald Trump in New Hampshire, according to a University of New Hampshire poll, reports Politico.

According to the poll of 469 likely voters from July 9 through the first night of the Republican Convention:
  • Clinton: 39 percent;
  • Trump: 37 percent;
  • Voters supporting other candidates: 18 percent;
  • Undecided: 6 percent
Among the voters who are "definitely decided" on their choice for president, Clinton leads by 6 points. For voters who haven't "definitely" decided, but are "leaning toward someone," Trump leads by 8 points.

A follow-up question included Libertarian Party nominee Gary Johnson and Green Party nominee Jill Stein.

The poll showed Trump and Clinton tied:
  • Clinton:37 percent;
  • Trump: 37 percent;
  • Gary Johnson: 10 percent;
  • Jill Stein; 5 percent.
The survey showed both Clinton and Trump have issues with popularity.

Fifty-eight percent of the likely voters had an unfavorable opinion of Clinton, compared to 36 percent who had a favorable view of her.

Sixty-one percent of the likely voters said they had an unfavorable opinion of Trump, while 32 percent viewed him favorably.

There is also a division by gender among voters for Clinton and Trump. Male voters put Trump ahead by 16 points, while Clinton has the lead among female voters by 19 points.

In a Suffolk University poll in Ohio released Thursday, Clinton and Trump were tied, both with 44 percent.

Politico's report on the New Hampshire poll said that the race is closer than in April, the last time the poll was taken. Clinton led that survey by 19 points.
