For the first time in exactly one month, Donald Trump trails Hillary Clinton by a minuscule number in the LA Times/Dornsife tracking poll — but significant because the GOP nominee now trails in every major national poll.

The results, albeit in the margin of error:

  • Clinton: 44.4 percent
  • Trump: 44 percent

On Sept. 12, Clinton led by three-tenths of a percentage point and hadn't led since and in fact trailed by 6 points on Sept. 18.

The results of who voters think will win:

  • Clinton: 56 percent
  • Trump: 39 percent

Surprisingly, Clinton has gained ground with male voters, according to the poll. Clinton has turned a roughly 15-point deficit into less than 10:

  • Trump: 49.1 percent
  • Clinton: 39.8 percent

Clinton maintains a nine-point lead among women voters, having not received a bump from Trump's damning audiotapes that surfaced late last week.

The USC Dornsife/L.A. Times Presidential Election poll asks more than 400 people each day about their voting intentions. Each day's poll respondents are a subset of the roughly 3,000 citizens who were randomly recruited from among all households.
