Joe Biden holds a national polling lead over President Donald Trump by about 8 points and would surpass the 270 electoral votes needed to win if the election were today, according to CNN analysis of state polls Sunday.
"The bottom line is Biden's ahead right now nationally and in the competitive states," CNN analysis Harry Enten concluded. "The good news for Trump is he has about six months to change the course of the campaign, which is more than enough time to do so."
His analysis homes in on more than 20 state polls and combines them to create a small margin of error among more than 15,000 interviews conducted in myriad states.
Enten even estimates Biden to outperform Hillary Clinton's performance in 2016, where she won the nationwide popular vote by almost 3 million, according to CNN.
Biden is leading in battleground states of Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Florida, according to Enten's analysis.
Trump has been under attack since before he was elected – with one attack running into the next – with alleged sexual harassment, alleged Russia contacts surveillance and investigations, to what he calls "deep state" whistleblowers, a failed impeachment attempt over abuse of power and obstruction of Congress, and now coronavirus task force response and subsequent economic regression.
