Although more than twice as many people disliked the tweets President Donald Trump directed at the four progressive congresswomen than approved of them, a sizeable number of respondents who are familiar with the Democratic House members do not view them favorably, according to a newly released CBS News poll.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez had the highest favorable rating of the group at 23 percent, with 37 percent viewing her unfavorably, 19 percent neutral and 21 percent saying they had not heard of her.

Rep. Ayanna Pressley had the lowest favorable rating of the group at 17 percent, with 28 percent viewing her unfavorably, 19 neutral and a whopping 36 percent who had not heard of her.

Other results from the survey included:

  • Although the four congresswoman had low favorable ratings, they did not rank so differently from the congressional leadership. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell was seen favorably by only 16 percent, while 40 percent held an unfavorable opinion. Only 12 percent had a favorable view of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, while 25 percent saw him unfavourably, and 23 percent had a favorable view of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, while 44% saw her unfavorably.
  • Fifty nine percent disagreed with what Trump said in the tweets directed at the congresswomen, while only 40 percent agreed with the statements.
  • Fifty-five percent said Trump’s tweets were unpresidential, while only 20 percent said they were presidential.
  • Eighty-seven percent said that the U.S. today is at least somewhat divided among racial lines, while only 13 percent said it is not.

The poll was conducted from July 17-19 by YouGov among 2,099 adults. It has a margin of error or plus or minus 2.3 percent.
