Former Sec. of State Hillary Clinton says that voters will start to trust her more when they see that she's a fighter.

"Well, I don't like to read that, it won't surprise you to hear me say it," Clinton said at a press conference in Iowa Monday, in response to a question about recent poll numbers that show that a majority of voters don't find her trustworthy.

"I think that throughout this campaign what people are going to see is that I will fight for them and the issues that they're talking to me about," Clinton said.

A recent Quinnipiac University poll taken of voters in three battleground states — Colorado, Iowa and Virginia — all had significant majorities saying that they don't find Clinton "honest and trustworthy." Clinton also either trails or is neck-and-neck with Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, and Scott Walker in all three states.

"As I travel around Iowa, people want an economy that works for everybody; they want a student loan program that doesn't bankrupt them and their families; they want to deal with the tough issues that they face when it comes to healthcare and how to afford it, and so much else," she explained.

"I have a proven track record," she added. "I have a commitment to being a strong fighter on behalf of Iowa's families and families across America. I think voters will not only see that, but they'll vote for me because of it."
