The Democratic Party is struggling in its bid against President Donald Trump, because it is failing to unite or raise money – while delivering extreme ideology – according to former GOP chairman and White House chief of staff Reince Priebus.

"At this point, between the craziness going on on the Democrats side, and the fact that the DNC is essentially broke, and the RNC has probably raised more than 10 times the DNC –people on the ground, absentee ballots, data, targeting people, all the boring stuff – and that boring stuff is going to determine who the winner is," Priebus told Sunday's "The Cats Roundtable" on 970 AM-N.Y.

"And right now the RNC and the Trump campaign are crushing the Democrats."

The Democratic presidential primary race right now is misguided in outdoing each other with extreme social programs and not making the race about President Trump, Priebus told host John Catsimatidis.

"It really is about the incumbent: Thumbs up or thumbs down on Donald Trump," Priebus told. "That's what the election is about. But what they're doing is they're creating a formula to make this more about wacko ideas on the Democrat side, which is going to give it Republicans a huge opportunity."

While former Vice President Joe Biden is leading and the most centrist – if not the only centrist – Priebus sees Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., as a threat, but only among Democrats and not against President Trump.

"I think Elizabeth Warren is someone who looks like she's surging," Priebus said. "I think that would be the best possible opponent to the president. Elizabeth Warren vs. Trump. It would be the best scenario for President Trump. Other than Joe Biden, I don't really see as big a concern for the re-election.
