Energy secretary Rick Perry on Thursday said "the science is still out" on just how much of an impact humans have on climate change, Axios reported.
Speaking at a joint Axios/NBC News event about energy policy, the former Texas governor told the gathering that he thinks climate change is real but hedged on causation.
Humans "have an impact on it," Perry said, but "I still think the science is out on" whether humans cause 100 percent of it, Axios reported.
Perry's comments are in line with positions he's stated before. In June, he rejected the notion that climate change is being driven by carbon dioxide emissions, again running counter to generally accepted science.
"The most likely primary control knob is the ocean waters and this environment that we live in," Perry told CNBC in June.
