The Republican party released a 21-page document that details the spending habits of the state department under Hillary Clinton, which included $5.4 million on crystal stemware.
Titled "Clinton's State Department Waste and Mismanagement," the document was posted to the Republican National Committee's website Thursday.
The RNC pulled no punches, with this small sample of "frivolous or excessive" expenses appearing on the second page:
- $450,000: "To send three comedians to India on a tour called 'Make Chai Not War.'"
- $53,004: "For 'marble polishing services' at the [U.S.] embassy in Brasilia, Brazil during the summer of 2010."
- $630,000: "To increase Facebook 'likes' on four State Department pages."
- $5,400,000: "For a no-bid contract for crystal stemware."
The document also talks about wasteful spending, such as the $108,000,000 spent on an "unused police training facility in Baghdad, Iraq" and $167,500,000 that was labeled "preventable cost overruns while expanding [the U.S.] embassy [in] Kabul."
The GOP concludes the state department spent $619,100,000 in "de facto waste" and another $9,784,965 in "frivolous and/or excessive spending."
Clinton, the Democratic presidential nominee, was secretary of state from 2009-2013.
