Vice President Joe Biden said he was not worried about President Barack Obama's policies being dismantled by Donald Trump's administration.
"No, I'm not worried about it," Biden told reporters Wednesday after meeting with Vice President-elect Mike Pence at Blair House in Washington. "He ran on a platform that they're going to try to move on.
"There's a lot of things that will be done where we can preach some accommodation — and we're prepared to work together," Biden added. "I told Mike, the vice president-elect, that I'm available to him 24/7."
Biden said despite his 36 years on Capitol Hill, much of which involved national security issues, "there's a lot you get down here that you're unaware of that you didn't realize existed.
"I plan on being available to Mike as senior staff for him as he moves forward.
"He'll be smart to reject most of my ideas, but I think he'll listen to some," Biden added as Pence laughed. "We're confident things will move."
When asked whether he thought the Trump White House would be ready on day one, Biden retorted "no administration is ready on day one."
"We weren't ready on day one," he said. "I've never met one that's been ready on day one — but I'm confident that on day one everything will be in good hands."
