Former congressman Adam Putnam leads Rep. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., in Florida's Republican race for governor in a new poll.

Results from the Florida Chamber of Commerce poll:

  • Putnam, who served in the House from 2001-2011, has 32 percent support.
  • DeSantis, who began serving in 2013 and is running for governor this year instead of another House term, has 15 percent support.
  • Five percent of the Republican likely voters polled said they support someone else, while nearly 50 percent are undecided.
  • Putnam leads every major media market in Florida except for Miami.
  • Putnam has a 42 percent to 7 percent advantage among voters aged 18-49.

"Voters believe Florida is on the right track and that Adam Putnam can keep Florida moving in the right direction," Florida Chamber of Commerce president and CEO Mark Wilson said.

DeSantis announced in January he would forgo another term in the House to focus on winning Florida's gubernatorial race. Gov. Rick Scott, R-Fla., is running for the Senate seat currently occupied by Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla.
