Poll results released Friday show that the race for Florida governor could come down to Republican Ron DeSantis and Democrat Gwen Graham, Politico reported.
The Mason-Dixon Polling and Research survey showed Rep. DeSantis with a comfortable lead over Adam Putnam, Florida’s agricultural commissioner.
The results:
- DeSantis has 41 percent support.
- Putnam has 29 percent.
President Donald Trump has thrown his support behind DeSantis, a frequent Trump surrogate. He will campaign for DeSantis Tuesday in Tampa, Politico reported.
Graham, a former congresswoman, leads her race with over four male competitors, The Tampa Bay Times reported.
- 27 percent said they support Graham.
- 18 percent support former Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine.
- 12 percent support Palm Beach billionaire Jeff Greene.
“If this is the way the general turns out, this will be a race that’s all about the national dynamic for Democrats to motivate the women’s vote against Trump because of his positions and what he has said,” said Brad Coker, Mason-Dixon pollster, Politico reported.
“Having a woman candidate face off against Trump’s guy is the beating heart of the type of campaigns that Democrats are counting on,” Coker added.
Mason-Dixon conducted the poll of 625 registered voters from July 23 to July 25, with all of those surveyed saying they were likely to vote. The poll’s margin of error is 4 percentage points, the poll report said.
