Ron Johnson: 'Certainly Getting Close' to Passing Graham-Cassidy

Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson on Tuesday said Republicans are "certainly getting close" to the votes needed to pass the chamber's latest healthcare legislation.

A guest on CNN's "New Day" morning program, Johnson extolled the plan as something Republicans can get done now, pushing back on conservatives like Sen. Rand Paul who object to the bill as not going nearly far enough.

"We're certainly getting close," Johnson said, when asked if Republicans had the votes to pass it.

"And for anybody who makes those exact same points, I would just argue you're going to be facing a binary choice: leaving 100 percent of Obamacare in place, or taking what we can get and then working with the governors long term," Johnson told CNN.

"There's just certain things we cannot do under Senate reconciliation procedures," he said.
