Ronny Jackson, who withdrew his name last week from consideration as VA secretary, will not be returning to his job as White House physician, Politico reports.

Jackson, a Navy rear admiral, withdrew his nomination following allegations he drank alcohol on the job, improperly prescribed and dispensed medications, and created a "toxic" work environment. Democrats also say he he "wrecked" a car after drinking at a Secret Service going-away party.

Jackson, 50, who has served as White House physician to three presidents, including Trump, has denied the accusations, saying in a statement Thursday that the "false allegations" distracted from his nomination.

President Donald Trump has defended Jackson, calling him "one of the finest people I have ever met," and White House press secretary Sarah Sanders last week said Jackson's record was "impeccable," and that he had passed multiple background checks, including one conducted by the FBI.

Navy officer Sean Conley took over as Trump's personal physician in March and will continue in the role, Politico reported.
