Republican strategist Karl Rove has warned that embattled Democrats may retain the Senate in November due to their cash advantage,
Politico reports.
On Fox News Sunday, he said, “The dynamics are good for Republicans — enthusiasm is high, Obama is low.”
But Rove, whose Crossroads group is spending millions of dollars on Senate races, cautioned, “The one advantage Democrats have had is a big cash advantage.
"They’ve already booked between Labor Day and Election Day $107 million in television advertising. The Republicans: $25 million less.”
Democratic strategist Joe Trippi said on the same program that Democratic incumbent Sen. Kay Hagan is likely to hold on to her North Carolina seat while Kansas GOP incumbent Sen. Pat Roberts is facing a surprising defeat in Kansas to independent challenger Greg Orman.
“I think I’m ready to say if this trend continues, [Hagan] will be re-elected,” Trippi said, noting that the latest polls in North Carolina have shown Hagan opening up a lead over her Republican challenger Thom Tillis.
On Kansas, he added: “I think [Roberts] is in deep trouble — probably gone. Once an incumbent starts to unravel, it’s hard to put the genie back in the bottle."
But Rove, who appears in the 33rd minute of the show, said that he expects Roberts to win, although not by a wide margin.
