Sarah Palin, former governor of Alaska and 2008 vice presidential candidate, will head to Iowa next month, the latest in a string of prominent Republican politicians to visit the first battleground state of the 2016 presidential primary season.

The Des Moines Register reported Monday. Republican Sen. Mike Lee of Utah will be the keynote speaker and political activist Phyllis Schlafly will be honored for her service to conservative causes.

Palin, the conservative pundit, who on Sunday joined Lee and fellow tea partyer Texas Sen. Ted Cruz for a rally at the World War II Memorial in Washington, will appear at a Nov. 9 event, Faith & Freedom Coalition President Steve Scheffler told the Register.
Palin has a new book coming out this fall called "A Happy Holiday IS a Merry Christmas."
Her last visit to Iowa was in August 2012 for a summer party at the home of Bruce Rastetter, a GOP powerbroker and agribusiness leader. Her last public event in the state was in September 2011.
In recent months, Cruz, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal
have all appeared in Iowa, which will hold its caucuses in January 2016, making it the first test for any White House hopeful.
