Former Republican Florida Gov. Charlie Crist wants to reclaim his job, but this time as a Democrat. And that is opening the door for his incumbent opponent to question whether the politician is an opportunist who can't be trusted.

The Republican political committee for Florida Gov. Rick Scott will launch television ads on Monday when Crist is expected to make his formal announcement questioning Crist's credibility by quoting prominent Democrats, The Hill reports.

The ad features Tampa mayor Bob Buckhorn calling Crist "an opportunist," Rep. Kendrick Meek saying, "He can't be trusted," and Democratic chair Karen Thurman saying, "His only core belief is personal ambition."

Adds former Democratic presidential hopeful Al Gore: "It's a little unusual to have someone flip-flop and then flop-flip."

Crist unsuccessfully ran for the Senate in 2010 as in independent, after losing in the Republican primary to Sen. Marco Rubio.
