Rep. Scott Taylor said Monday it wouldn't be his "style" to use some of President Donald Trump's rougher criticisms, but he would still be happy to have him come to Virginia to campaign for him when the time comes.

"I don't think you can control what the president says," the Virginia Republican told CNN's "New Day." "If the president wants to come down to Virginia, I'm happy to have him here."

Trump, during a rally outside Pittsburgh Saturday for GOP House candidate Rick Saccone, mocked members of the media, calling NBC host Chuck Todd a "sleeping son of a bitch," and CNN "fake as hell."

"The president has a pretty big coalition up there," said Taylor. "He won that district overwhelmingly. Saccone doesn't have the same exact coalition and the people underestimate the actual candidate itself or him or herself. So I think the president is just trying to energize his coalition his put together to help get the GOP member over the edge tomorrow."

But, Taylor added, "Obviously stylistically it's not my style. The crowd and that coalition that he put together to win that district, they like him."

Taylor said that doesn't mean he wouldn't welcome Trump to campaign for him, even if the president informed him he'd want to say the same kinds of things, but he does believe Saccone will win the race, in a tight vote.

"I think that the Democrat candidate, I've seen some of his ads, he's positioned himself well as a blue dog Democrat conservative, pro-Second Amendment, fiscal conservative," Taylor said of Saccone's opponent, Conor Lamb.
