Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is reportedly building a staff in New Hampshire ahead of what appears to be a probable run for president on the Republican ticket.
According to
Real Clear Politics, Walker's Political Action Committee has made two significant hires: GOP strategist Andy Leach will serve as the senior adviser of the Our American Revival PAC, while GOP operative Michael Bir will oversee day-to-day operations.
If Walker decides to join the race, Leach and Bir would serve in senior roles in helping Walker win the first primary in the nation.
Real Clear Politics reports that former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, two potential Republican candidates for president, also sought to bring Leach onto their staff.
The story claims Bir will move to New Hampshire from the Midwest for his new position.
Walker will make his first visit to New Hampshire during the 2016 campaign season in March, according to the Real Clear Politics report. The website averaged
several New Hampshire polls and concluded that Walker holds a slight lead over Bush in the Republican race, 16.6 percent to 16.2 percent.
In Iowa, meanwhile,
Walker's PAC has rented space to house a campaign office.
Walker has quickly emerged as one of the favorites of the GOP, along with Jeb Bush. He has received some help in recent weeks from
conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh, who has talked about the 47-year-old several times on the air since January.
