Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate Scott Walker, a Republican, trails his Democratic opponent in his bid for re-election, while Sen. Tammy Baldwin, D-Wis., who is also seeking another term, is comfortably ahead in her race, according to an NBC poll released Thursday.

Asked who voters would support if November's election were held today, 53 percent of likely voters say they would pick Democrat Tony Evers, compared to 43 percent for Walker. Baldwin is ahead by double digits against GOP challenger Leah Vukmir, 54-40 percent among likely voters.

Forty-seven percent of voters polled also said they preferred a Congress controlled by Democrats, compared to 43 percent who said they preferred a GOP-led Congress. Republicans are likely to lose control of the House, but should hold onto the Senate, according to pollsters and forecasts.

Evers, the Wisconsin state school superintendant, leads among Democrats, 97 percent to 2 percent, non-white voters (70-24), women (60-36), and Independents (56-36). Walker, who has President Donald Trump's endorsement, leads among Republicans, 96 percent to 3 percent, voters without a college degree (51-45), and men (50-46).
