Sen. Scott Brown, R-Mass., is proving that a Republican can thrive in his traditionally liberal state. Brown has strong leads against major potential Democratic challengers in next year’s election for his seat, according to a new poll from Suffolk University,

Brown leads former Rep. Joe Kennedy, son of the late Sen. Edward Kennedy, whom Brown replaced, 45 percent-40 percent, the survey shows. Other Democrats fared worse.
Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick trails Brown by 52 percent-37 percent. Reps. Michael Capuano and Edward Markey each garnered 26 percent support, compared to 52 percent for Brown against either candidate.
Brown leads Lt. Gov. Tim Murray 51 percent-23 percent and Newton Mayor Setti Warren 52 percent-9 percent, with 32 percent undecided.
