The Supreme Court ruling on DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) was hypocritical and an egregious judicial "overreach," undermining presidential authority, according to former Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Newsmax TV.
"It should not have happened, and I think it's time for the American people to understand and be more attuned to the overreaching of our courts," Sessions told Thursday's "Greg Kelly Reports."
The Supreme Court rejected the Trump administration's effort to end legal protections for 650,000 young immigrants covered by DACA in order reset the executive policy put in place by former President Barack Obama, who never had to make it law in the first place.
This is hypocrisy, Sessions told host Greg Kelly.
"The Supreme Court somehow, someway, ruled the president has to go through an entire rule-making process to withdraw a policy that never went through a rule-making process to begin with," he said. "It's a very bad ruling. I'm very unhappy about it. It's wrong. It's legislation."
Sessions was also livid about former National Security Adviser John Bolton working to undermine President Donald Trump, too, releasing a scurrilous attack in his upcoming book, "The Room Where It Happened: A White House Memoir."
Sessions rejected a former close adviser to the president releasing details of private communications with the president in order to damage his reputation, weaken his authority, and undermine his administration's foreign policy.
"I refused to talk about my relationship with the president," Sessions noted after he was fired, adding Bolton should have, too.
