President Donald Trump took aim at Seattle again on Sunday, calling the leadership there weak and saying the "Fake News Media" purposely ignores the "radical Left takeover" in the city for political gain.
"Does anyone notice how little the Radical Left takeover of Seattle is being discussed in the Fake News Media. That is very much on purpose because they know how badly this weakness & ineptitude play politically," Trump tweeted Sunday afternoon.
"The Mayor & Governor should be ashamed of themselves. Easily fixed!"
Later, the president tweeted: "Interesting how ANTIFA and other Far Left militant groups can take over a city without barely a wimpier from soft Do Nothing Democrat leadership, yet these same weak leaders become RADICAL when it comes to shutting down a state or city and its hard working, tax paying citizens!"
The Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone, or CHAZ, is a six-block radius in Seattle that has been taken over by protesters demanding police reform in the wake of George Floyd's death. The area has become a cop-free space and some of the protesters are armed, hired to provide security for "some very prominent black voices," according to The Daily Beast.
There is also now a community garden, a free food co-op, and artwork everywhere.
Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best wants her officers to return to their precinct within the zone, though Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan has supported a more hands-off approach while saying that protesters are exercising their First Amendment rights.
