White House sources are insisting Sebastian Gorka, a deputy assistant to President Donald Trump, is remaining at his White House post despite two reports he is planning to leave, Breitbart News is reporting.
Both the Washington Examiner and CNN has reported Gorka, a former Breitbart News security editor, would be taking a post outside the White House.
"Incorrect," one source told Breitbart News when asked about those reports. A second source "with direct knowledge of these matters" also claimed the reports are wrong, according to Breitbart.
The Examiner said on Sunday that Gorka's new position in an unnamed federal agency would involve the "war of ideas" countering radical Islamic extremism.
"Gorka has served for months on the Strategic Initiatives Group, an internal organization within the White House, and as a national security adviser," Sarah Westwood of the Examiner wrote.
"His exit from the White House comes amid increased speculation that a reported lack of a security clearance prevented him from fully performing in his job."
And CNN reported he was expected to find another position outside the White House. It said it was possible — though unlikely — he would take another job in the administration.
"Gorka is a former Breitbart national security editor who has been outspoken on the need to confront Islamic terrorism," Jim Acosta and Eric Bradner of CNN wrote.
"In his role in the White House, he has become one of Trump's most prominent public cheerleaders, frequently hitting the radio airwaves to defend the president's counterterrorism policies and public statements."
