The Secret Service is sending additional agents to beef up the security detail around Joe Biden as it prepares for the possibility he could soon declare victory.

The reinforcements are being sent to Wilmington, Delaware, after the Biden campaign informed the Secret Service he could make a major speech as early as Friday, according to The Washington Post.

Dozens of agents have already been providing security for Biden who has been utilizing a Wilmington convention center.

Secret Service spokeswoman Catherine Milhoan declined to comment on the staffing changes as did the Biden campaign.

The Post noted that the added security doesn’t give Biden a full protective detail that accompanies a president-elect. But the new moves will move it closer in that direction.

The newspaper said the Secret Service has typically ramped up protection for a president-elect immediately after that person has been declared the winner.

But President Donald Trump is contesting election results and has declared illegal votes were counted.  He has maintained the Supreme Court should ultimately decide the election.

Trump tweeted Friday: "I easily WIN the Presidency of the United States with LEGAL VOTES CAST.”
