Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will testify before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee about President Donald Trump's meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, Politico is reporting.
Pompeo is scheduled to appear before the committee in open session July 25.
Democrats had been demanding Republicans call in Pompeo since Trump's controversial press conference with the Russian leader.
Committee Chairman Bob Corker, R-Tenn., has pressed the administration to get Pompeo to testify, Politico reported. The website attributed the information to an unnamed source.
The Washington Examiner noted the panel had originally asked to talk with Pompeo about Trump's meeting with Kim, but expanded its request after Trump's summit with Putin.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., had said Tuesday he was concerned about what Trump told Putin in the two leaders' closed-door meeting in Helsinki and wanted members of Trump's national security team to testify about what they heard, CNN said.
