Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., said President Donald Trump needs to "understand the effect" of making announcements that he's firing members of his administration on Twitter, The Hill reported Saturday.

In an interview scheduled to air Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press," Johnson said it could be especially problematic when it came to "attracting other people" to work in his administration.

"It's not the way I'd do it," Johnson said. "I think the president does need to understand the effect it has on attracting other people."

Trump's latest announcement of changes in his administration came when he posted Wednesday on Twitter that he was replacing Veterans Affairs Secretary David Shulkin with White House physician Adm. Ronny Jackson.

Shulkin was the third member of the administration Trump has fired in three weeks. Trump announced on Twitter March 13 he had tapped CIA Director Mike Pompeo as his nominee to replace Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.

On March 22, Trump announced on Twitter he had chosen former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton to replace H.R. McMaster as his national security adviser.

A number of experienced people in Washington have turned down Trump's offers for key positions in his administration. Several have stated the reason was his executive order barring federal employees from lobbying for five years after leaving government service. Others have bowed out citing discomfort with the president's policies or anxiety about going through the Senate confirmation process.
