Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić offered his congratulations to President Donald Trump on Tuesday as he looks forward to a shared vision of "peace, freedom, law, and justice" for all.
"Hearty congratulations to @realDonaldTrump as he assumes the responsibilities and difficult duty of #US President. I look forward to our cooperation and believe in your vision of a world in which peace, freedom, law and justice will rule for all. In these endeavors, Serbia will be your reliable partner and friend," Vučić wrote on X.
Trump and Vučić had spoked as recently as November with the populist Serbia leader expressing optimism that relations between the two countries will "further improve in all areas" in the next Trump administration.
"You have always had the greatest support in all of Europe from the citizens of Serbia, and that is why Serbia looks forward to and hopes for exceptional and close cooperation in your new mandate," the Serbian president continued.
Trump's associates have maintained a close relationship with Serbia during the Biden administration. Earlier this year, the Serbian government approved a multimillion-dollar contract with Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner on plans to build a luxury hotel on the site of the former defense ministry in Belgrade.
"I wish you success in your new term, confident that you will bravely face all challenges, as always before, and that you will continue to fight strongly for the prosperity of the United States and global peace, building bridges to all who share with you the highest moral, traditional and state values," Vučić concluded.
