South Carolina politicos are beaming with pride at the nomination of Gov. Nikki Haley, R-S.C., as President-elect Donald Trump's new ambassador to the United Nations.
"Governor Haley is a strong leader who will be an outstanding Ambassador to the United Nations," said Sen. Lindsey Graham, a Republican. ". . . I know she will be a valuable ally to President-elect Trump as our nation tries to re-engage the world and lead from the front, not behind.
"Her husband was a member of the South Carolina National Guard who served a tour of duty in Afghanistan. Governor Haley and her family fully understand what is at stake in the war against radical Islam."
Sen. Tim Scott, also a Republican, tweeted:
Matt Moore, chairman of the South Carolina Republican Party, gushed on his Facebook page:
Haley, 44, is the first woman in the Palmetto State's history to be nominated for the position.
