South Dakota Republican Sen. Mike Rounds is projected to be reelected to his post as the state’s junior senator, The Hill reports.

The incumbent Republican and former South Dakota governor edged out his Democrat challenger Daniel Ahlers, who was a member of the South Dakota state legislature.

Rounds was first elected to the Senate in 2014. He serves on several committees, including Armed Services and Environment and Public Works. He chairs two subcommittees in those committees.
