The State Department spent more than $15,000 to send members of President Donald Trump's family to the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the new Trump-branded hotel in Vancouver, The Washington Post reported.
It's the first such expenditure detailing the department spending money on a Trump-branded property.
Both Trump sons, their wives and Trump's daughter Tiffany attended the ceremony in February at the Trump International Hotel and Tower, a management and licensing property for Trump Organization, which has yielded $5 million in royalties thus far, according to the Post.
The State Department, which assists the Secret Service for international trips, paid for 19 rooms in all. The $15,000 does not include what the Secret Service spent on security for the Trump family.
