Actor Steven Seagal says anyone who believes Russia fixed the election to put Donald Trump in the White House is "stupid."
"Let's be really honest — every country is involved in espionage," he said during a Wednesday interview on "Good Morning Britain. "Every single country. The Americans spy, the British spy, the Russians spy. We all spy on each other. However, for anyone to think that Vladimir Putin had anything to do with fixing the election, or even that the Russians had that kind of technology, is stupid.
"I think most of the people in the United States of America and most of the people in Russia want to like each other. We need each other. Russia and American should be great allies — and that's the way it should be."
The Hill noted Seagal has been granted Russian citizenship by Putin.
During the interview, Seagal also blasted NFL players for kneeling during the national anthem.
"I believe in free speech," he said. "I believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I don't agree they should hold the United States of America or the world hostage by taking a venue where people are tuning in to watch a football game and imposing their political views. I think it's outrageous. I think it's a joke. It's disgusting."
