Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, remains against the Republican healthcare plan despite the changes made in the latest draft, The Hill reports.
"My strong inclination and current intention is to vote no on the motion to proceed," she told reporters after attending a briefing on the newest version of the bill that Senate Republicans released Thursday.
"The only way I'd change my mind is if there's something in the new bill that wasn't discussed or that I didn't fully understand, or the [Congressional Budget Office] estimate comes out and says they fixed the Medicaid cuts, which I don't think that's going to happen."
Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., echoed Collins in his remarks on the new draft, saying on a conference call with reporters that "As far as I can tell, the new bill is the same as the old bill," according to CNBC, adding, "I can't support it."
Collins said that if Republicans cannot produce a bill they can pass, the next step should be to reach out to Democrats.
"I have been involved in crafting very complicated legislation for a long time, and my experience has been when you go through a committee process, the bill gets vetted, you hear from experts, you get good ideas."
