Jeb Bush's former communications director says "the inmates have now taken over" the Republican Party, which is poised to lose big if Donald Trump gets the GOP presidential nomination and faces Hillary Clinton.

"Hillary would beat him from jail, I'm telling you. That's how unpopular he is. It's crazy," Tim Miller told Politico.

Miller said he is so opposed to the "loathsome" Trump that he would gladly help a third-party conservative try to beat him, even it led to a victory for Clinton.

"I don't know that there's going to be a lot of support for … a Republicans-for-Hillary thing, which I couldn't be a part of. So, if there's a third party that people could point towards — even if it was protest vote — yeah, I could see that," Miller told the political news website.

Miller said when he worked for Bush, who dropped out of the race earlier this year, voters blamed the former Florida governor's link to a political "dynasty" as well as not sounding "angry enough" for their lack of support

"We were running the asylum for a while, and, like, the inmates have now taken over. ... We've got major issues," Miller told Politico.
