NBC reporter Tom Winter blasted Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, for including him in a video and using his words “wildly out of context.”
Winter’s comments came after Jordan introduced the video during Attorney General Bill Barr’s testimony at a House Judiciary Committee meeting on Tuesday, Mediaite reported. The video began with clips of broadcast journalists and others saying the words “peaceful protest” without any context of what they were describing.
The video then showed clips of violence brought on by protesters.
Winter tweeted: "Rep. Jim Jordan used a video clip of me in his exhibit that is wildly out of context. I was speaking about violence and anarchists in New York City juxtaposed to peaceful protests. To suggest I didn't talk about violence is a lie, his use of my image out of context is wrong."
And he added in another tweet: “Don't believe me? Here was the graphic on screen: 'Police Describe Anarchists' Extensive Prep For Violence.'”
Meanwhile, the Washington Examiner noted Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., chided Jordan for showing the video.
"Without objection, I'm going to insert the committee's audio-visual policy into the record of this hearing and note that the minority did not give the 48-hour notice required by that policy," Nadler said.
