Two summers ago the Ebola threat was the major news story, and the man currently running as the Republican nominee for president was adamant about keeping the deadly disease out of the United States.
The Washington Post's Lenny Bernstein found Trump's tweets from the summer of 2014 when he argued that two Americans who had contracted the disease while treating patients in Africa should not be allowed to return to the United States for lifesaving treatment.
Trump did say the two, Dr. Kent Brantly and nurse Nancy Writebol, should be given the best treatment possible, but that they should not be allowed to be brought back to America to receive care at Atlanta's Emory University Hospital.
But the two patients were flown back aboard a specially equipped medical jet, and both fully recovered.
Trump still argued that flights from the African countries affected should be stopped.
Trump even questioned the mental health of President Barack Obama for doing nothing to stop the influx on people from Ebola infected areas.
When a patient with Ebola was confirmed in New York City, Trump tweeted again.
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, a Trump ally, did quarantine a woman who had been exposed to Ebola, but drew harsh criticism from some for doing so.
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who is facing Trump as the Democratic nominee in November, didn't say much about Ebola at the time, the Post notes, but did say America had a responsibility to invest in fighting the disease that killed 11,324 people in Africa.
"We can't say we're not going to be involved because these things are somebody else's problems, because in the world of interdependence that we currently live in, a lot of those problems end up eventually on our doorstep," she said.
